After the rain, the Bangladesh team had to face defeat in the T20 World Cup game against the Indian team. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan reacted to this. He also said it was not our decision to play after the rain.
Shakib Al Hasan said there were many such moments in the game which we can call defining moments. Of course, the way Liton was hitting, his exit was crucial. We lost our momentum after the game was stopped due to rain. But we don’t have the rain in our hands, so we have to accept it and play accordingly.
Shakib was asked if the weather was right to play. To that, he said, did we have an option? Explain to whom? Do I have the ability to convince the referee? The referees called the two captains and told them what the target would be, what the rules of the game were and how many overs we would be playing. We accepted the decision of the referees. I mean that’s the decision the umpires make, we don’t decide, you know we’re here to play cricket, both teams wanted to play a full 20 overs.
Bangladesh captain said there was a hurdle because of the rain but I’m happy the way both teams played very well, we were so close like in the 2016 World Cup but not close enough . The wicket was a little slippery which suited the batting side rather than the bowling side and we shouldn’t apologize for that.
Chasing the target of 185 runs, Bangladesh scored 66 runs in 7 overs without dropping a wicket. After the rain, the match was restarted when they reached the target of 151 in 16 overs and the Indian team won by 5 runs.
