Pakistan win easily against South Africa in T20 World Cup, semi-final hopes intact – GJ MONEY TIPS


In the 36th game of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated South Africa by 33 points under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. Playing first, Pakistan scored 185/9 in 20 overs. Due to rain, South Africa got a goal of 142 in 14 overs but the Proteas team could only score 108/9 in overs allowed. Shadab Khan was voted player of the match for his superb overall performance.

Battling first after winning the toss, Pakistan got off to a bad start. In the very first set of the innings, Mohammad Rizwan became the victim of Wayne Parnell by scoring 4 runs. Captain Babar Azam was a flop and went on a personal 6 in the final powerplay over. Shan Masood was also caught after scoring 4 runs and Pakistan lost their 4 wickets till 43. From there Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz shared a half century partnership and took the score to 95. Nawaz fell victim to Tabrez Shamsi after scoring 28 points. Iftikhar secured support from Shadab Khan and the two shared an 82-run partnership on just 36 balls. Shadab scored 52 points on just 22 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes before being fired for 177. Iftikhar also scored 51 points on 35 balls. In this way, Pakistan made a big score. Enrique Nortje took the highest four wickets for South Africa.

South Africa baton failed

Chasing the target, South Africa got the first two losses. Quinton de Kock and Riley Russo fell victim to Shaheen Afridi scoring 0 and 7 respectively. Captain Temba Bavuma scored early and went on 36 runs on 19 balls. Aiden Markram also scored 20 points. Shadab Khan walked these two drummers. This way, South Africa had scored 69/4 in nine overs, but the rain came and the game was affected for a while. After the rain, the target of 142 was achieved and in this sense, South Africa was expected to make 73 in the next five overs.
