South Africa were given a revised target of 73 runs in 5 overs in a rain-hit match.
New Delhi. Pakistan kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive by defeating South Africa by 33 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method (D/L method) in the 36th match of the T20 World Cup Super 12. When the Proteas team chasing the target , scored 69 for 4 in 9 overs, after which rain disrupted play. After the rain, the Proteas team was given a target of 142 runs in 14 overs. South Africa team could score only 108 runs for 9 wickets in 14 overs.
With this win, Pakistan have four points after four matches. Babar Azam’s team has reached the third position in the points table in Group 2. In this group, India is first with 6 points while South Africa is second with 5 points.

Pakistan scored 185 runs for 9 wickets
Earlier, thanks to Shadab Khan’s 22-ball 52, Pakistan scored 185 for 9 against South Africa. Apart from Shadab, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs in 35 balls and took over the innings as the Pakistan team struggled at 43 for four in the seventh over.
Shadab Khan completed his half century off 20 balls
Shadab completed 50 runs in 20 balls which included four sixes and three fours. Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Pakistani team once again failed to make a good start in the current tournament, losing the wicket of Mohammad Rizwan in the very first over bowled by Wayne Parnell. Mohammad Harris, who was included in the team in place of injured Fakhar Zaman, started trying to get the ball over the boundary line as soon as he arrived. He scored 28 runs in 11 balls with the help of three sixes and two fours.
Pakistan lost 4 wickets for 43 runs
Shadab Enrich was out lbw off Norkea. Harris took a review but did not change the decision, which at one stage made Pakistan’s score 43 for four in two overs from 38 for one wicket. Iftikhar, who was in form, along with Mohammad Nawaz (28 runs in 22 balls) took the innings, with the duo sharing a 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket. But left-arm wrist spinner Tabrez Shamsi broke that partnership by getting Nawaz out lbw.
Nawaz and Shadab shared an 82-run partnership
Nawaz got the ball over the boundary line four times during his innings and hit a six. Then came Shadab to the crease who started collecting runs as soon as he joined Iftikhar. Both shared 82 runs in 36 balls for the sixth wicket and helped the team reach the challenging target. For South Africa, Anrich Norkea took four wickets for 41 runs, while Kagiso Rabada, Parnell, Lungi Ngidi and Shamsi took one wicket each.
