The Indian side were beaten by South Africa by five wickets in the Super-12 round of the T20 World Cup at the hands of South Africa on Sunday. On the blazing ground of Perth, the Indian team had lost five wickets for 49 runs at once. Then Suryakumar Yadav (68) singlehandedly battled the Proteas bowlers and took the team to a respectable 133/9.

Former New Zealand captain and Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming says Suryakumar Yadav’s T20 game is at a level where it’s hard to find fault with his game.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 68 points against South Africa on just 40 balls with the help of 6 fours and three sixes. Fleming said Surya showed control of his technique at different lengths on the court which allowed him to succeed.

Fleming said: “Suryakumar Yadav has a very positive mindset. He has a very open and aggressive stance, thanks to which he has the freedom to play shots anywhere. Surya designed his technique in such a way that bowlers find it difficult to bowl in the correct zone because if he throws a full length ball the shot will go over the covers and if he throws a short ball the ball will go through over the third man or point.

Fleming added: “He also plays forehands. He hits the short ball well. So he developed such a technique, which is very difficult to rectify.

On the same show, former South African captain Faf du Plessis said the quality of Suryakumar Yadav is that he knows when to take risks. The former Proteas captain said: “Suriyakumar Yadav’s style is so high that as a bowler you don’t realize in which areas you can dominate him. They all play different strokes. Scoring works in all areas.

Du Plessis continues: “I love its composer the most. He has so many shots, but I’ve never seen him in a hurry. There is a calmness in him, with the help of which he scores a lot of points. He knows when to increase running speed. He proceeds accordingly and always looks calm. He is a great T20 player who likes to watch him play. Youngsters can learn from him how to advance their innings at different stages of the game.
