IND vs SA: Dinesh Karthik’s chaotic preparations, made another break in the wicket, Pant also showed his strength – GJ MONEY TIPS

Perth: This could be the last ICC tournament for India’s goalkeeper-beater Dinesh Karthik, as the 37-year-old first made the squad in 2007 for the World Tournament. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Rishabh Pant has yet to play top-flight cricket for many years. Pants hit from start to finish when training in the nets, but his chances of being included in the last 11 are slim. The two wicket-keeper batsmen are at different stages of their lives.

Karthik did special ‘blind drills’ so people wouldn’t criticize his wicketkeeper in what could be his last major tournament. Meanwhile, Pant’s batting session showed the passion of a young man and Rahul Dravid spent most of his time watching his batter. From time to time, he hit Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj hard. Sometimes he missed but he continued to train.

At the center of India’s net training were Karthik’s unique wicket-holding drills, which were carried out under the supervision of field coach T Dileep. “Blint drill” is one such drill which is done to increase the alertness of the wicket keeper. After that, Karthik also practiced taking a few takes. Instead, coach Rahul Dravid instructed the net bowlers (spinners) to play fast on the stumps when Karthik was guarding the wickets.

Net bowler Khilesh said: “We got instructions from Indian coaches to play fast and keep it close to the stumps, don’t spin too much when Karthik guards the wickets. We’re not used to playing too fast in cricket, but it was fun.

Karthik continued to drill while Pant practiced batting in the second net. Head coach Chetan Sharma was also present during this optional training session and watched from afar.
