The rupee edged up 4 pice to 82.29 against the US dollar in early deals on Friday, amid positive dynamics in domestic stock markets and weakness in the US dollar.

Globally, with the fall in the price of gold, it traded at $1,653.25 an ounce. Similarly, the price of silver remained unchanged at $19.34 an ounce. Dilip Parmar, an analyst at HDFC Securities, said the Comex’s previous spot gold price traded at $1,653.25 an ounce after the dollar bounced back from policy decisions by the Bank of Japan and the ECB. The weakness of the dollar in the external market and the growth in the domestic stock market strengthened the rupee. The rupee gained 4 pice to 82.29 today against the US dollar in early trading.
