The country’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $3.85 billion to $524.52 billion in the week ended October 21. This is a two-year low in foreign exchange reserves since July 2020.
According to RBI data released on Friday, foreign currency assets (FCAs) fell by $3.593 billion to $465.075 billion during the period. The country’s gold reserves also fell by $247 million to $37206 billion. Also, India’s reserves with the International Monetary Fund also fell by $14 million to $4799 billion.
Reserves stood at a record $645 billion last October
The country’s foreign exchange reserves stood at a record $645 billion in October last year. According to the data, between April 1, 2022 and September 30, India sold $85 billion. During this period, China sold 159 billion dollars, the highest in the world.
Tax collection may exceed 2 lakh crore in the current financial year

A 12-judge bench has been constituted over three days to probe the tax fraud case involving former US President Donald Trump’s company. Some of the accused in the case are confused as they feel that it may take at least a week to constitute an impartial bench.
Five judges were included in the bench on Thursday evening. A seven-judge bench was formed on Tuesday. Six alternate judges are yet to be included in the bench. 8 killed in US house fire, homicide suspected
Eight people died in a house fire in the Tulsa area of the United States. Police are investigating the case as murder. The fire was reported late Thursday in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a residential area 20 kilometers southeast of Tulsa. The police believe that the fire was set with the intention of murder.
The police are investigating the matter but they do not see any danger to the general public in this incident. Police spokesman Ethan Hutchins said the crime scene scene was complex, with a family of eight living in the home, including two adults and six children, but the exact identities of the dead have not been established.
Local woman Caitlin Powers said she saw smoke coming from the roof of the house. Two men and a woman were standing in front of the house. Another man is seen dragging a woman out the front door and the woman is found unconscious.
Satellite television channels should be freed from ‘uplinking’ regulation
The central government has said it will deregulate ‘uplinking’ of satellite television channels within a month. The government’s move aims to make India a major hub for ‘uplinking’.
In satellite telecommunications, an uplink is a link from a ground station to a satellite. Downlink, on the other hand, is the link between one or more ground stations below a satellite. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apoorva Chandra said at Friday’s event that 532 channels out of 898 television broadcasters in the country use foreign satellites for ‘uplinking’ and ‘downlinking’ of their services.
“We want to deregulate uplinking of satellites so that India can emerge as a hub in the region,” said Chandra. He said that the uplinking and downlinking guidelines were last issued in 2011 and were in the process of being revised.
Committee constituted for reorganization of Central Secretariat Service Cadre
The government has constituted a committee to reorganize the Central Secretariat Services (CSS) cadre. This committee will make suggestions for enhancing the skills and capabilities of CSS officers on the job. Officers of this cadre play an important role in the functioning of the Central Secretariat.
